Slice is hiring a Staff Software Developer on the Services team to design, build, and launch backend features that help restaurant partners operate more efficiently and deliver seamless experiences to customers. You will own end-to-end initiatives from concept through production, collaborating with product, design, and other teams to define solutions and iterate based on feedback. Our primary stack is Python (Flask), but we are technology-agnostic and may rewrite microservices in Go, craft scripts in Ruby, or leverage new cloud services to solve problems at scale. You will work in a small, agile team of 5–8 backend engineers across the US, UK, and Europe, reviewing code and raising the bar while maintaining a fun, supportive atmosphere. You’ll ensure quality and performance at scale by applying best practices in coding, testing, monitoring, and DevOps, including unit tests, logging, and alerting. What we’re looking for: founder-like engineers with an ownership mindset, proven experience building scalable backend systems in Python and cloud services, and comfort with databases and monitoring tools.
