Global Language Strategies is seeking professional freelance translators, editors, and transcribers to translate, edit, and/or transcribe legal documents between English and Greek. Global Language Strategies is seeking professional freelance translators, editors, and transcribers to translate, edit, and/or transcribe legal documents between English and Greek. This remote contract position involves translating and editing documents and audio files related to law enforcement and legal matters, from Greek to English and vice versa.

Responsibilities

Provide accurate translation and editing of documents and transcription of audio files.
Edit audio transcripts that include slang and idioms.
Edit legal documents such as affidavits and depositions with strong command of legal terminology in both languages.
Maintain excellent written communication in English and Greek; ILR proficiency level 3+.
Follow government client style guides and quality standards; use domain-specific terminology.
Review and certify the quality of other translators’ work as needed.
Mirror source document formatting in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Utilize CAT tools such as Trados Studio.
Abide by a code of ethics in transcription and translation.

Requirements

This is a remote

Willing to undergo a U.S. government background check to obtain a Public Trust clearance (Moderate level).
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
2–3 years of experience translating/editing between English and Greek.
2–3 years of forensic audio transcription experience with the ability to enhance audio using appropriate software.
Familiarity with legal terminology in both English and Greek.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Experience using CAT tools, such as SDL Trados.
