Pattern Data is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, architect, and implement backend services for our AI-powered platform used by mass tort teams. You will participate across the product lifecycle—from ideation and design to prototyping, execution, and deployment—collaborating with product and executive teams to scope projects and set technical direction. You will build and maintain our core API stack, primarily in Scala, and work with technologies including TypeScript, PostgreSQL, GraphQL, Elasticsearch, and AWS. Responsibilities include architecting and implementing backend services, promoting engineering standards, and continuously improving system architecture and tooling in collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Requirements include 8+ years of software engineering experience, experience designing and maintaining backend APIs (ideally in a team lead role), strong knowledge of strongly-typed functional programming, data structures, database optimization, cloud infrastructure, and message queues, plus experience in startups or fast-paced environments. Location: United States (Remote OK). Salary: $160,000-$220,000 base per year, plus bonus and benefits.
