We are looking for a Backend Engineer (Java) to design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure backend systems that power our products. You will work on greenfield development and improvements to existing systems, including building REST APIs and engineering microservices for card payments, treasury management, transaction booking, and crypto liquidity. The technology stack is Java on the backend with PostgreSQL, using Spring Boot, and a focus on clean code, maintainability, TDD, DDD, and continuous integration and delivery. Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or related fields; strong Java backend experience; English proficiency; and a track record of delivering complex products in hypergrowth startups. This is a hybrid role based in London, United Kingdom, requiring 3-4 days per week in-office.
