The role focuses on designing, building, and operating high-throughput backend platform services and shared infrastructure used by hundreds of engineers. Key responsibilities include architecting scalable backend platforms with low tail latency, building durable event-processing pipelines, implementing caching, rate-limiting, and request-shaping layers, developing SDKs and paved-road libraries, establishing observability and capacity planning, driving multi-region, fault-tolerant designs, leading incident responses, and setting platform-wide standards for API design and backward compatibility.
