Xometry is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Thomas engineering team. Thomasnet, part of Xometry, is evolving from a traditional supplier directory to AI-assisted sourcing. As a senior individual contributor, you will guide software implementation across multiple engineering teams and set the technical direction for shared systems and AI infrastructure, while remaining hands-on in code. Responsibilities include writing and reviewing architectural plans, evaluating and adopting new technologies, mentoring engineers, conducting code reviews, delivering reliable software on schedule, and partnering with product managers, designers, and leadership to uphold high standards. You will work in a collaborative, AI-ready environment focused on building scalable AI features such as LLM applications, retrieval-augmented generation, vector search, and embeddings. Qualifications include 10+ years of professional software development experience, strong full-stack capabilities (TypeScript/Node.js with GraphQL, a React/Next.js frontend, PostgreSQL and analytics data stores, OpenSearch), and hands-on experience with AI product engineering. Experience with LangGraph/LangChain, model fine-tuning with PyTorch or TensorFlow, and familiarity with multimodal embeddings is preferred. Marketplace or multi-sided platform experience is a plus.
