About the role
Optum, a health-services company within UnitedHealth Group, is seeking a Software Engineer for a remote-friendly role based in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, United States. You will design, develop, and deploy scalable, high-performance software solutions and AI-powered components while collaborating with cross-functional teams across the globe.
Responsibilities
Qualifications:
- Analyze and interpret business and functional requirements from PRDs (Product Requirement Documents) and FSDs (Functional Specification Documents).
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable software solutions using Java technologies.
- Write clean, efficient, and reliable code following coding standards and best practices.
- Participate in defect triage, root cause analysis, and timely resolution of issues.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and stay current with emerging technologies and trends.
- Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions with emphasis on responsible use of AI.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 6+ years of experience building scalable, enterprise applications using Java technologies.
- 5+ years of expertise in OOP principles, design patterns, and software development best practices.
- 5+ years of experience with Spring Framework (MVC, IoC, AOP) and ORM (Hibernate); 3+ years in SQL (Oracle preferred).
- 3+ years in creating high- and low-level design documents translating business requirements into robust technical solutions.
- 1+ year of experience with AI technologies such as Generative AI, GitHub Copilot, and prompt eng
