Elastic is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Streams Backend team, building Elastic's unified data pipeline that connects data sources to destinations. You will help design and implement features for Logstash and its plugins in Java and JRuby, and you will contribute to core backend services in Golang, as well as to the OpenTelemetry Collector. The role is remote-first and distributed, with collaboration across time zones via Slack, GitHub, and Zoom. You will design, build, and operate backend services for the Streams program, maintain code with automated tests, participate in code reviews, and support enterprise users, including on-call rotations. Required skills include proficiency in Java, Golang, or Ruby, strong analytical and debugging abilities, and the flexibility to work across multiple codebases in a distributed environment. A track record of using AI to accelerate development and optimize performance is highly valued. Bonus points for familiarity with observability tools and concepts (tracing, metrics, logging), experience with Docker and Kubernetes, JRuby, OpenTelemetry, stream processing platforms such as Kafka, and database technologies like Postgres or MySQL, as well as exposure to the Elastic stack.
