Job Overview and Responsibilities: Directs a team in the development and execution of an optimized plan to ensure ground service equipment (GSE) and aircraft-related facility equipment are in place at all United-operated airports based on justified need. Responsibilities include modeled needs, justification and funding, acquisition, allocation, disposal, and surplus equipment management, covering more than 20,000 GSE units and over 1,250 UA bridges and peripheral equipment. Manages optimal surplus equipment levels and strategic placement to support current and future operations while minimizing capital requirements. Identifies revenue opportunities from surplus equipment by engaging with the marketplace while adhering to corporate policy. Coordinates movement of equipment between locations and completion of scrapping, including arranging transportation and unit loading/unloading with third-party logistics providers. Establishes processes that enable planners to efficiently support and maintain optimized GSE levels through reallocation and acquisition. Defines and delivers ground equipment requirements driven by new market opportunities and/or changes between mainline and express service. Develops standards for aircraft schedule-driven ground equipment needs through collaboration with Engineering, standardized modeling, and stakeholder reviews. Evaluates and implements ongoing system-wide improvements to fleet models and ensures consistency across airports in modeling methodologies.
