Executive Editor leads editorial, curricular, and product leadership for CIEE’s High School Summer Abroad Language & Culture curriculum portfolio across languages (Spanish, French, Italian, German; with potential expansion to Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, and Korean). Reports to the Director of Curriculum on the High School Outbound Academics team. This role defines the vision, development processes, and quality standards for communicative, task-based world language curricula used in four-week study abroad programs for U.S. high school students. The Executive Editor translates academic goals, field feedback, assessment data, program priorities, and stakeholder input into coherent curriculum, development guidelines, prototypes, and high-quality instructional materials. Responsibilities include sourcing, onboarding, and developing relationships with freelance editors; working with the Director of Curriculum, Senior Editor, World Language Curriculum Editor, instructors, and international staff to ensure curricula are pedagogically strong, scalable, and aligned with CIEE’s academic vision. The role also supports external stakeholders, communicates curriculum priorities and progress, prepares materials for review, and manages feedback while balancing goals, scope, and timelines.
