Halogen Engineering Group is seeking a Software Engineer to design, develop, test, deploy, document, maintain, and enhance the GHOSTGEM software suite (including DINO). This role involves implementing software in Unix environments, integrating with COTS, GOTS, and OSS components, and delivering systems that support processing-intensive analytics, large data sets, real-time operations, and data repositories. The candidate will work individually or as part of a team, participate in design and test reviews, resolve defects, and contribute to hardware/software trade-offs and open-source usage decisions. Required experience includes Unix development, shell scripting, and familiarity with CM tools and web services; proficiency in languages such as C, C++, Python, Ruby, Perl, JavaScript, and Java; knowledge of Agile development, Git, and CI/CD practices; experience with container technologies (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), messaging (RabbitMQ), infrastructure as code (Ansible), and database work (SQL/NoSQL). Experience with Spring, Kafka, and data-driven analytics is desirable. Leadership experience is expected, including guiding one or more software teams, setting process directions, and ensuring quality. Qualifications include a Master’s degree with 3+ years of SWE experience or a Bachelor’s with 5+ years, or 7+ years total experience. The position is based in Fort Meade, Maryland, onsite, with no travel.
