Overview: The Non-Propulsion Electronics Systems (NPES) Assistant Chief Test Engineer (ACTE) is responsible for the day-to-day NPES test activities and reports directly to the Chief Test Engineer (CTE). This is an on-site role in Groton, Connecticut, focused on the CWS & NPES programs. Responsibilities include assisting the CTE with management of project schedules, overseeing project cost and performance data, and supervising hourly Electronics Technicians and salaried Test Engineers assigned to their project. The ACTE will report testing status, supervise and conduct shift turnovers, and maintain constant interface with trades, engineering, ships management, and government personnel to coordinate and accomplish test program activities. The position requires verifying re-entry control retest requirements are properly identified and accomplished, documenting and tracking problems encountered during testing, and performing test procedure reviews for completeness and accuracy. The ACTE directly supervises or leads tests in their area of expertise, actively supports process improvement initiatives, and supervises or controls test activities during sea trials. The role includes developing and mentoring Test Engineers to create a strong interchangeable team and providing input to the CTE for personnel performance reviews. Additional duties include managing and overseeing system tag-outs to ensure the safety of personnel and equipment.
