Veeam is seeking a founding engineer and technical lead for a portfolio of AI-assisted learning and enablement tools. This hands-on leadership role combines architecture, development, infrastructure, and mentoring as the team grows, with close collaboration with subject-matter experts and instructional designers to ensure a secure, scalable, and maintainable platform. This is a remote position based in Romania (remote work open to qualified applicants). Based in Bucharest, you will own cross-project architecture (data models, authentication, access control, logging, and deployment), set and enforce coding and architectural standards, and build and maintain asynchronous Python services over PostgreSQL. You will own CI/CD, DevOps processes, and release strategy; manage infrastructure (databases, VMs, storage, backups, observability); and develop a governed data-to-content pipeline for AI-driven knowledge generation. You will implement cybersecurity and responsible AI controls and mentor team members. What you’ll bring: at least 5 years of experience with asynchronous Python and modern web frameworks; PostgreSQL data modeling and optimization; modern HTML, CSS, and JavaScript; web security (OIDC/OAuth2, JWT, RBAC); API design for scalable HTTP/JSON services; Git and CI/CD; experience integrating LLM APIs and handling structured outputs; experience parsing structured/unstructured content (PDF, DOCX, HTML, etc.); familiarity with databases, object storage, and Git; Docker, Linux, and Bash fundamentals; interest in AI pipeline evaluation and observability; strong learning mindset
