Much Better Adventures is a remote-first, B Corp-certified travel company that runs small-group adventure holidays with local guides in wild places around the world. We are seeking an Assistant Management Accountant who is part-qualified or recently qualified (ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) to join our finance team and report to the Financial Controller. The role starts with shared responsibilities and will evolve to owning the 5-day month-end close end-to-end, including payroll journals and accruals, sales and commissions postings, bank and balance sheet reconciliations, OPEX accruals and prepayments, management accounts preparation, and preparing the finance slides and commentary for the board deck.

Key duties: - Prepare the departmental cost reporting file and variance analysis within two days of month-end close - Support regulatory reporting requirements and the audit process (preparing working files and responding to queries) - Process supplier payments (Xero and Airwallex) and manage refunds and employee expenses - Calculate local host payments and liaise with Operations and Expansion - Assess foreign currency requirements and book forward contracts weekly to ensure sufficient currency to pay hosts - Cash management: monitor balances and keep spare cash in interest-bearing accounts where appropriate - Prepare and file VAT returns and process payroll
Candidate profile: - Recently qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) - Solid grounding in management accounting and finance operations - Comfortable working independently in a remote environment; org
