About the role

BetterHelp is seeking a Senior Security Engineer to join the Blue Team and help mature our security program. You will conduct security risk assessments of third-party vendors, build security tooling, and lead incident response efforts. You will strengthen endpoint security, manage device controls, and work with DevOps to identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities in AWS environments. The role is hybrid, based in the United States, and operates on Pacific Time; candidates in any time zone are welcome to apply, with travel to the San Jose, California office up to three times per year plus one company-wide offsite. Travel expenses are covered.

Responsibilities

Conduct security risk assessments of third parties and map data flows to assess supplier security risks.
Build security tooling and automation; contribute to internal applications and scripts.
Execute incident response activities: identify, investigate, and remediate security incidents.
Enhance endpoint security (EDR, application control, threat detection).
Collaborate with DevOps on AWS to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities.

Requirements

Bonus:

5+ years of experience as a Security Engineer.
Experience performing security assessments of third-party vendors and applications.
Experience coding (Rust preferred; Python, PHP).
Experience with macOS and AWS.
Experience in incident response activities.
Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Knowledge of SQL.
Identity and Access Management experience (Okta).
Experience with CrowdStrike Falcon.
