Senior Technical Editor will oversee the editorial lifecycle for technical documents, research publications, manuals, and related content supporting FHWA RD&T and TFHRC. The role provides substantive editing, copyediting, proofreading, reformatting, and quality control to ensure technical accuracy, style consistency, reference integrity, accessibility compliance, and publication readiness across a broad portfolio. The editor will transform complex engineering, research, and policy material into clear, authoritative content for diverse audiences; supervise and mentor junior editorial staff; and coordinate with authors, researchers, technical reviewers, designers, web specialists, public affairs, legal reviewers, and project managers. The position requires a Master’s degree in English, Journalism, Technical Writing, or related field; 10+ years of senior-level editing or editorial management experience; supervisory or mentoring experience; and strong knowledge of the GPO Style Manual and Chicago Manual of Style in federal publishing standards.
