An on-site Cloud Engineer role at an international scientific and technology centre in La Spezia, Italy. The position focuses on migrating on-premises infrastructure to the cloud, designing and running cloud-based solutions, and shaping the organization’s cloud strategy. You will collaborate with the IT team to identify and implement cloud-based solutions, plan and develop applications for on-premises and cloud environments, and manage both on-premises and cloud infrastructure in accordance with security guidelines. You will lead and develop best practices for the cloud and systems engineering team, supervise routine system administration across on-premises and cloud platforms (server installation, patch management, Windows and Linux support, log analysis), and orchestrate automation across the organization. You will define project plans and backlogs, monitor execution, and report progress. You will run the team day-to-day using Agile methodologies, including daily stand-ups. Requirements include a bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering; four to eight years in a cloud engineering role or related field; experience managing IT projects as a project manager, ideally using Agile principles; strong experience with Active Directory Domain Services and Federation Services, PKI, OU structures and group policies, DNS and DHCP; VMware ESX and VCF; Linux/Unix, Docker and Microsoft Azure; working knowledge of web services, APIs (REST/RPC); solid networking knowledge including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP and distributed networks.
