A Traffic Controller is responsible for directing and managing traffic flow in construction zones or areas affected by road work to ensure safety and efficiency. Responsibilities include guiding vehicles and pedestrians using hand signals, flags, or other signaling devices; setting up cones, barriers, and other traffic-control equipment to be clearly visible; monitoring traffic to identify potential bottlenecks and adjusting signals as needed; enforcing safety protocols to prevent accidents; and communicating effectively with drivers, pedestrians, and fellow workers. Additional duties may include assisting with vehicle organization and supporting other team members as required. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, English proficiency in speaking and writing, being 18 years or older, owning a valid driver's license, passing an RMV background check, maintaining uniform standards, and adhering to VPNE attendance policy.
