The Project Accountant position is based in Tempe, Arizona and reports to the finance team. The Project Accountant analyzes financial information and monitors the progression of projects, investigates variances, approves expenses, and ensures projects are billed to clients with payments collected. Essential duties and responsibilities include communicating with relevant departments regarding contract documents, change orders, and other contract modifications; approvals and services related to billing; ensuring consistent billing and financial reporting at project levels by following best practices; maintaining billing folders for all projects with expenses, consultant invoices, and monthly invoices in accordance with standard procedures; reviewing project budgets, staffing and work plans to guarantee appropriate fees; preparing and sending accurate invoices to clients and collecting payments; establishing accounts and assigning entries to proper accounts; developing, maintaining, and analyzing budgets, preparing periodic reports comparing budgeted costs to actual costs; providing year-end support for auditor requirements; preparing local property and business tax returns; ensuring client contracts reflect project needs; guaranteeing timely
