Chainguard is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Libraries Platform team. This infrastructure-focused role designs and builds the services, pipelines, and a package index that power a secure, reproducible, and up-to-date factory for open-source libraries used by external customers and internal ecosystem teams across Java, JavaScript, Python/AI/ML, and beyond. You will lead the architecture and implementation of the platform that powers this factory, including automation for artifact creation, updates, verification, vulnerability remediation, SBOM and provenance generation, and policy enforcement across the library catalog. The role also involves developing and operating shared platform services such as package indexes, registry mirrors, metadata services, and orchestration tooling, as well as internal developer tools and CLIs (often in Go) to improve how we build, test, and ship libraries at scale. You will drive reliability, scalability, and observability by defining SLOs, building monitoring and alerting, and leading incident response and post-incident improvements. Expect to tackle complex dependency and build issues in production, from toolchain and compiler problems to CI/CD edge cases, and collaborate closely with ecosystem teams, Platform, Delivery, Sustaining, and Security to meet reliability, security, and product requirements. You will mentor and unblock other engineers through design reviews and hands-on debugging to foster a collaborative culture.
