Apple Video Services is seeking a Software Engineer to join the backend team responsible for building and operating scalable, highly available services powering the Apple TV app. The role focuses on delivering reliable, observable systems and uptime, supporting the browse experience and onboarding of new content. Qualifications: 3+ years of experience building systems and delivering internet services at scale; Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field; Experience with Java, JVM technologies, and runtime configurations; Experience working in Linux/Unix environments, including performance tuning for memory and disk; Basic understanding of Kubernetes. Preferred: Experience with containers, message queues (Kafka), and server-side technologies (Jetty); Experience with NoSQL, relational, or big data technologies (Hadoop, MongoDB/CouchDB, Spark); Deep understanding of modern Java concepts, including virtual threads; Infrastructure knowledge spanning networks, CDNs, and load balancers; Experience with API development using Java, JavaScript, and HTML5; Knowledge of large-scale distributed systems; Strong problem-solving, persistence, and grit.
