Payroll Accountant role based in Kent, Washington, is an onsite two-month contract supporting payroll for approximately 200 employees across multiple states. The role processes and disburses monthly and semi-monthly payrolls, supports payroll tax compliance, and assists with month-end and year-end financial accounting activities. It offers the opportunity to work closely with Human Resources and Accounting to drive process improvements in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment. Responsibilities include processing payroll for about 200 employees (35 hourly and 165–180 salaried) in a multi-state environment; reviewing, approving, and posting timesheets; resolving discrepancies with employees, supervisors and leaders; coordinating with HR on new hires, changes, terminations and deductions; executing multiple payroll runs within established timelines; ensuring timely payroll tax payments and returns (including 941 filings); reconciling payroll-related general ledger accounts; supporting month-end and year-end close activities and payroll reporting; preparing compensation analysis and reporting; maintaining current knowledge of payroll, tax and industry trends; data entry and analysis to ensure payroll data integrity; collaborating with accounting and finance teams for financial statement preparation; using payroll software to generate reports, support audits and provide documentation for stakeholders.
