SpaceX is seeking a Security Engineer specializing in Detection Engineering to join the Security Operations Center Blue Team. This role focuses on developing and improving security detection mechanisms and automation to identify and respond to sophisticated adversaries targeting SpaceX. You will help close visibility gaps, build tooling and data delivery pipelines, and support the SOC in triaging detections. Responsibilities include engaging owners of high‑risk systems to identify detection gaps, investigating anomalous activity, and participating in adversary emulation exercises to refine detection coverage. Basic qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in security engineering, computer science, cybersecurity, engineering, math, or related STEM field, or 2+ years of relevant incident response or security engineering experience; proficiency with at least one modern programming language (Python, Go, C++, or Rust). Preferred qualifications include incident response experience, building ETL pipelines, managing services in Kubernetes, knowledge of SIEMs, and familiarity with Windows/Linux/macOS security controls. Must be able to work extended hours and weekends as needed. This is an on-site role in Redmond, Washington, United States.
