Versa Networks is seeking a talented and motivated Senior Data Scientist to join our Machine Learning team. In this role, you will contribute to a wide range of data-driven projects, from exploratory data analysis to building and deploying machine learning models for security and networking use cases. You will work closely with data engineers, analysts, and domain experts to uncover insights, solve complex problems, and drive data-informed decision-making. Responsibilities include conducting data analysis and visualization, data preparation and engineering, and building and evaluating ML models (including CNNs, LSTMs, boosted decision trees, and DNNs) as well as NLP/vision models using transformers. You will deploy models into production, with attention to quantization and deployment formats like ONNX. You will collaborate with engineering teams to ensure scalable and reliable deployment. Qualifications include a Master’s degree in computer science or engineering, 4-5 years of experience in data science, strong Python skills, experience with Pandas/Polars, NumPy, Matplotlib, and Seaborn, knowledge of ML algorithms, and familiarity with TensorFlow or PyTorch. Experience with NLP and large language models is a plus. Preferred qualifications include experience with Go/Rust, threat modeling or anomaly detection, distributed training frameworks (RAPIDS, Dask, Ray), cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), data versioning and MLOps tools such as MLFlow or ClearML, and cloud-native DevOps tools like Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and Terraform.
