Google is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Infrastructure, to join the AI and Infrastructure team in Sunnyvale, California, on-site. You will design, develop, test, deploy, and optimize large-scale software and networking infrastructure powering Google’s services. Provide technical leadership on projects, coach a distributed team of engineers, align goals and timelines across teams, and manage priorities and deliverables. The role emphasizes building distributed systems, network infrastructure, data-center networking, and systems architecture, with opportunities to work across the full stack. Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience; 8 years of experience building large-scale infrastructure or distributed systems; 8 years of experience programming in C++ or Go; 5 years of experience testing and launching software products; and 3 years of experience in software design and architecture. Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms; 3 years in a technical leadership role; experience working in a matrixed, cross-functional organization; and experience with C++, networking, data-center networking, and network management systems. Compensation for US-based roles is US$207,000–US$300,000 per year, plus a 20% target bonus, equity, and benefits.
