Speechify is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Core Experiences Team in Reston, Virginia, with a remote-friendly arrangement. This team builds and maintains the foundational services and SDKs that power Speechify’s product experience across platforms. It’s a role at the intersection of product and infrastructure, focused on designing clear, reliable APIs and simple systems that directly enhance user experience.

What you’ll do: - Collaborate with Product teams to scope projects, minimize scope to accelerate customer feedback, weigh integration and UX trade-offs, and deliver solutions via our cross-platform SDK. - Optimize existing functionality for faster loading and smarter parsing by designing efficient abstractions and refining algorithms. - Ship cloud functions, lightweight backend services, and jobs using Kotlin.

Ideal candidate should have: - Systems thinking: end-to-end design and a belief that simplicity adds value. - Speed: the ability to generate options quickly and decide what can ship now versus what needs more time. - Focus: thrive in a fast-growing, remote team and know when to engage or be heads down. - Collaboration: ability to influence and negotiate with designers, marketers, and product managers.
