Grafana Labs is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to contribute to Pyroscope, the open-source continuous profiling database behind Grafana Cloud. This is a remote position with applicants in Riga, Latvia, and across Europe. You will own meaningful projects end to end, from concept to rollout, including ingestion, storage, and query components of a distributed database, balancing performance, cost, and complexity. As part of a fully remote team, you will engage with customers, help shape the roadmap, and participate in on-call rotations. Responsibilities include designing, building, and operating core distributed database components; collaborating with App Observability and other Grafana squads to ensure profiling integrates across the stack; enabling agent-driven profiling workflows via APIs, CLI, and documentation; driving operational excellence and reducing toil; and contributing to open-source. You’ll work with modern AI-assisted development tools within security guidelines and have opportunities to mentor teammates and participate in code reviews.
