We are seeking a detail-oriented Property Accountant to join our finance team on a full-time, long-term contract. This is a remote, work-from-home role supporting an assigned portfolio of properties; no client-facing duties.
What You’ll Do - Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaid amortization, and recurring entries - Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for operating, security deposit, and reserve accounts; follow up on outstanding items - Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations for cash, prepaids, security deposits, accrued liabilities, and loan balances - Prepare monthly financial reporting packages (trial balance, income statement, and balance sheet) with notes on significant variances - Prepare draft owner statements and supporting schedules for manager review - Reconcile interproperty and intercompany balances; flag mismatches for review - Review accounts payable coding to ensure bills land in the correct property, GL account, and period - Review tenant ledgers, receivables aging, security deposit accounting, and move-out settlements - Monitor property cash balances and prepare shortfall calculations to support funding processes - Pull documentation to support audits, tax preparation, and lender requests - Help improve Standard Operating Procedures and keep task trackers current
What We’re Looking For - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field - 2+ years of accounting experience; property management, real estate, or multi-enti
