Viridian Enterprises LLC is seeking a Controller to serve as the first dedicated accounting leader within a fast-growing, innovation-driven organization in the cannabis/hemp industry. This hands-on role combines day-to-day accounting with building scalable systems and processes to support long-term growth. You will own the accounting function, including journal entries, accounts payable, reconciliations, and month-end close, while leading a system conversion and transitioning from outsourced to in-house accounting. You will develop inventory and cost accounting processes for a manufacturing environment to ensure accurate product costing, establish SOPs, and support audit readiness. As the company grows, you will build and lead the accounting team. Requirements include 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, active CPA license, hands-on inventory and cost accounting in manufacturing, and experience leading or supporting ERP implementations with strong U.S. GAAP knowledge. A background in Big 4 or top-tier audit firms and experience in high-growth environments are preferred. You should be a hands-on leader who can execute detailed work while shaping long-term structure and scalability, with a track record of building processes from scratch and evolving them as the organization grows; experience with AI or automation tools to streamline accounting workflows is a plus. Location: Santa Cruz area, California. Work Environment: On-site five days per week. Travel: Primarily local. Compensation: $230,000–$270,000 DOE.
