Role: Automation Engineer – Facilities SCADA & PLC (m/f/d). Location: Aachen, Germany. Work arrangement: Hybrid. We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to own and maintain the Facilities Monitoring and Control System (FMCS) for our production facility, including Siemens WinCC OA SCADA, Siemens S7-1500 PLCs and remote I/O. You will diagnose issues, extend functionality as we scale from pilot to full production, and coordinate with vendors and contractors. Responsibilities include operating and monitoring the FMCS across servers and operator stations, performing end-to-end loop checks, investigating alarms and faults during live operation, calibrating instruments, adding datapoints and reports, and maintaining up-to-date documentation and change control. Qualifications: 5+ years hands-on experience with industrial SCADA and PLC systems in a production environment; strong Siemens S7 experience (TIA Portal / Step 7) or equivalent; solid SCADA engineering skills (WinCC OA preferred but other platforms are acceptable with willingness to migrate); experience with loop checks, instrument calibration, and reading P&IDs; university degree in Electrical/Automation Engineering or an equivalent apprenticeship path; good command of English; German language skills are advantageous.
