Alcon is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to spearhead the architecture, design, and development of Windows-based software for ophthalmic medical devices. You will provide technical leadership across multiple product development programs and collaborate with Systems Engineering, Quality, Regulatory, Hardware, and Product Management to ensure software solutions meet performance, reliability, cybersecurity, and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include leading the software development lifecycle from requirements through verification and release, mentoring engineers, and evaluating new technologies and processes to improve product performance, reliability, and scalability. Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, at least 5 years of relevant experience, strong written and verbal English communication, and experience with C#, .NET, WPF/XAML, MVVM, C++, and Microsoft technology stacks. Familiarity with HL7, FHIR, DICOM, and Protocol Buffers is preferred, as is experience in FDA-regulated environments or other highly regulated industries.
