About the role
Overview: This is a full-time, on-site Sales Manager role based in Durham, North Carolina, reporting to the Director of Sales & Marketing. The position sits within 21c Museum Hotels and focuses on group sales in corporate, SMERF, and association market segments to maximize revenue per available room.
Responsibilities
Qualifications:
- Build and maintain client relationships through outside sales calls, mailings, networking, referrals, site tours, and representing the hotel at trade shows and events.
- Conduct market analysis to identify demand gaps (30/60/90 days and beyond) and develop targeted sales and marketing plans.
- Drive revenue growth in rooms and catering by meeting and exceeding revenue booking goals in line with the property's pricing strategy.
- Analyze demand segments and sources of business to optimize revenue and profitability; monitor competition and leverage strengths.
- Deliver exceptional service to guests; respond promptly to needs and expectations.
- Maintain active involvement with key community organizations; finalize contracts for group bookings.
- Coordinate with DOSM and hotel departments to plan function details (space, schedule, catering) and manage booking cut-off dates.
- Prepare monthly performance reports (pace, inquiries, site visits, action plans) as requested.
- Attend weekly revenue meetings and other internal briefings; perform other duties as assigned by the DOSM.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to work independently with minimal supervision.
