Varda Space Industries is seeking a Spacecraft Embedded Linux Software Engineer for an on-site role in El Segundo, California. The Flight Software team determines how our spacecraft behaves in orbit and develops reliable software across all phases—from requirements capture to testing and flight operations. You will write quality embedded software for bare-metal, RTOS, or Linux-based processors in C++, and own all aspects of the software lifecycle, including design, testing, and integration, while helping scope projects and make design trades on open-ended problems. You will contribute to ensuring system quality and performance through software testing, verification, and validation, and collaborate with a cross-functional team. What you will bring: A Bachelor's degree in computer science, math, physics, engineering, or equivalent, plus 3+ years of experience in developing spacecraft or other safety-critical software, and strong C++ skills. Preferred qualifications: End-to-end experience building and launching a spacecraft; experience developing and testing real-time embedded systems; familiarity with safety-critical aerospace software; CCSDS telemetry and telecommand systems; experience with F' or cFS framework; Python or Rust; knowledge of basic analog and digital electronics; familiarity with SPI, I2C, CAN, EtherCAT. Compensation and benefits: Salary range $131,000 – $184,000, with stock options under the Equity Incentive Plan; relocation support available; comprehensive benefits package including health, retirement, and wellness programs.
