Join Samsara as a Senior Software Engineer II on the In-Vehicle Experience team. This is a fully remote role open to candidates residing in the United States or Canada. You will be the team’s first dedicated software engineer, serving as the technical anchor from day one. You’ll primarily work on backend systems that orchestrate agentic, voice, and real-time experiences at the edge, while firmware engineers own the device side. You’ll define what to build and design APIs and service contracts that enable edge devices and backend services to work together, then ship AI-powered products from zero to one in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment. You’ll design systems that coordinate across backend and edge boundaries, balancing reliability and real-time responsiveness. You’ll make architectural tradeoffs as requirements evolve and establish patterns for reliability, observability, and explainability in real-time decision making.
