MAXISIQ is seeking a highly skilled Junior Security Engineer to support Department of Defense (DoD) RMF and Intelligence Community Directive (ICD) 503 requirements, applying security engineering principles and hands-on expertise. The role emphasizes engineering security controls per NIST SP 800-53 and CNSSI 1253, focusing on system hardening, automation, and vulnerability remediation. Responsibilities include providing security engineering and architecture guidance for RMF assessments and authorizations, tailoring NIST controls, and implementing remediation actions to improve security posture. This is a hybrid role with possible locations in San Antonio, Augusta, and the Fort Meade area. Key duties include: developing layered protections, establishing cybersecurity SOPs; vulnerability management across Windows, Linux/Unix, and containers; automating remediation using Ansible and Python/Bash; implementing DISA STIGs and CIS Benchmarks across RHEL, Ubuntu, Windows, VMware/ESXi, as well as network devices (Cisco, Juniper); supporting container security with Docker; conducting ACAS vulnerability scans and remediation; collaborating with developers on secure coding and CI/CD integration; delineating physical and logical security boundaries; training software developers on secure practices; generating and interpreting vulnerability findings and supporting RMF Continuous Monitoring.
