Defense Unicorns is seeking a Platform Engineer to join the Navy Delivery team. The role blends DevOps and platform security to develop and maintain our platform across multiple engagements, including CI/CD, runner deployments, UDS packaging, and automation. You will serve as a liaison between applications (custom development, COTS, OSS) and the Navy platform environment, promoting best practices and enabling effective collaboration between application and platform teams. Responsibilities include innovating and solving complex technical problems, applying expertise across multiple knowledge domains, contributing to strategic planning to align technology with mission objectives, building and securing Kubernetes-based infrastructure, implementing infrastructure as code, and supporting cloud-native deployments with a focus on secure coding and vulnerability remediation. You will work with Linux/Unix systems, YAML for Kubernetes manifests, CRDs, and pipeline configurations; develop security automation for API, container, and cloud security; monitor performance and architecture security in a complex enterprise environment; and collaborate with external teams. Travel expected 4–12 times per year. Preferred qualifications include deep knowledge in 1–2 core technologies (e.g., full-stack development, GitOps, Kubernetes, AWS, Go), experience with Kubernetes manifests and pipelines, and DoD 8570 IAT certification (or eligibility). Active DoD security clearance is required; experience with production ATO’d DoD systems and familiarity with UDS Core, Iron Bank, and C-ATO processes are a
