Staff Platform Engineer, Universal Directory

Okta is seeking a Staff Platform Engineer to join the Universal Directory Platform team within the Product Platform Pillar. This role will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of a highly performant, scalable platform that serves as the source of truth for all identity assets and their relationships. The position is hybrid with teams located in Toronto, Canada; San Francisco, United States; and Bellevue, United States.

What you’ll do - Understand our identity management codebase and development process (Jira, technical designs, code review, testing, deployment) - Develop and implement frameworks and tooling for the Universal Directory Service platform - Design and implement high-performance, distributed, scalable, fault-tolerant software components - Deliver high-quality bug fixes and address customer-reported issues - Conduct quality code reviews and automated testing - Partner with Product Development, QA, and Site Reliability Engineering teams to scope development and deployment work

What you’ll bring - 7+ years of software development in Java, with experience in Hibernate and Spring Boot - 5+ years building services, internal tools, and frameworks - 3+ years automating and deploying large-scale production services in AWS, GCP, or similar - Hands-on experience with SQL databases - Experience with systems ranging from monolithic applications to microservices - Ability to collaborate effectively with distributed teams - Nice-to-have: BS in Computer Science or equivalent; Go programming language; PostgreSQL,
