Toast is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Orders API team in Boston, Massachusetts. This is a hybrid role with in-person collaboration and flexible remote work. You will design and implement new features that improve functionality and reliability for our customers and partners, define and drive the testing strategy with strong automated coverage, own operational monitoring and on-call response to keep production highly available, and participate in code reviews and architectural discussions to evolve the API’s design and delivery practices. You will collaborate with Product, QA, and other engineering teams to deliver robust, scalable services, and advocate for best coding practices. You will work with Kotlin and Java in a microservice architecture, using DropWizard, AWS (DynamoDB, RDS, Lambda), Postgres, Apache Spark, Pulsar, and RabbitMQ. You’ll also be exposed to AI tooling to enhance development workflows.
