Proton is seeking an experienced Senior Frontend Engineer to work across Proton Pass’s web and desktop platforms, including browser extensions, web apps, and desktop applications. This role combines front-end expertise with deep knowledge of browser internals, extension APIs and desktop application frameworks. You will develop new features, deploy and support high-quality user experiences, and collaborate with backend, product, design, QA, and other engineers from ideation to completion. Responsibilities include code reviews, performance optimization, and the development of comprehensive testing strategies (unit and end-to-end) to ensure reliability of Proton Pass. Requirements include proven frontend expertise with deep understanding of browser internals and extension APIs, strong JavaScript and TypeScript skills, familiarity with software engineering best practices and CI/CD, and a product-minded approach. Bonus points for MV3 browser extensions, Electron or similar desktop frameworks, cross-platform web apps, service workers, WebAssembly and/or Rust, and experience with accessibility, localization, monitoring, or cryptography concepts.
