Intuitive Surgical is seeking a Managing Staff Software Developer to lead the development of our core platform and to empower the broader engineering teams to deliver software for robotic-assisted surgery. This hybrid role is based in Sunnyvale, California, and offers collaboration across multiple teams to promote a culture of rapid, high-quality delivery.

Scope, design, and implement applications that interact with our robotic systems and the data they generate, used by roboticists, software engineers, clinical engineers, testers, and the broader organization.
Identify opportunities to reduce friction in the software development process and increase engineering velocity.
Lead the expansion of internal telemetry and observability tools.
Educate internal development teams on how to best leverage available tooling.
Minimum BSc in Computer Science or related technical field with 8+ years of professional experience, or MSc.
Expert-level Python; Experience with TypeScript and React.
Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of engineers.
Preferred: experience building developer tools; experience with Linux; experience deploying and scaling applications on AWS (Lambda a plus); experience with relational and NoSQL databases; experience with Kafka, Hadoop, Spark, or other data processing tools; experience with Docker development and deployment workflows.
