Machine Learning Engineer required at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB) in Cambridge to lead the deployment, scaling and maintenance of production-grade machine learning systems for petabyte-scale connectomics data. The role focuses on turning ML models for volume electron microscopy into robust, reproducible production pipelines that support automated segmentation, synapse detection, proofreading and large-scale image analysis. You will design and maintain infrastructure for training, inference, monitoring, debugging and data processing across GPU/CPU clusters, on-prem storage systems and HPC environments, collaborating with scientists, software engineers and external partners to ensure reliable, scalable, and version-controlled ML workflows. The position is on-site in Cambridge, United Kingdom, with a salary of £52,253 to £60,834 per annum, and is a fixed-term appointment for two years due to time-limited funding. The post holder will have opportunities to train others, disseminate results, and contribute to the division's objectives in neurobiology and computational data analysis.
