Job Summary: The Claims Program Manager manages complex and high‑exposure medical malpractice claims, including hospital and employed physician claims and deductible policy claims. The role acts as the Mercy Health representative at pre‑trial hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and participates in trials when required. The position leads staff and collaborates with outside defense counsel, risk management, and internal teams to optimize claim handling, reserve accuracy, coverage alignment, and overall risk management. Key Responsibilities: Analyze defense counsel effectiveness on an annual basis; implement and track claims under the Early Liability Review Program; set reserves timely based on established formulas where possible; identify potential claims at the time of reporting and coordinate follow‑up such as expert evaluations prior to suit or notice of potential suit; work extensively with outside defense counsel to manage claims and verify outside counsel billing; review policies to ensure appropriate scope of coverage and alignment with commercial policies and captive arrangements; communicate risks and alternatives to senior leaders; collaborate with employed physicians when named in a lawsuit; coordinate with risk management and insurance staff on coverage issues; manage staff to meet organizational objectives; may be required to perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Minimum Education – Bachelor's degree; Preferred – CPCU/AIC/ARM/INS Institute; Minimum Experience – 7 years handling professional liability claims. Compensation: Salary range $46.76–$74.81 p
