Backend Engineer role based in the United Kingdom. You will design, develop, and maintain the central API and backend services, primarily using Node.js and TypeScript, with a strong emphasis on API design, data modeling, performance, and developer experience. You will own backend systems as products, ensuring they remain intuitive, reliable, scalable, and fast. Your work will span scaling existing products and rapidly validating new ideas through MVPs and experiments. You will collaborate closely with frontend, design, and product teams in a fully remote, asynchronous, and flexible environment, taking end-to-end ownership of projects across technologies, services, and stakeholders. Requirements include several years of professional experience building large-scale APIs and backend systems, deep expertise in Node.js and TypeScript, and experience with databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, or Kafka. Strong proactive communication skills in German and English, with the ability to communicate clearly in a remote and partially asynchronous environment. Nice to have: experience working with financial, stock market, or cryptocurrency data; experience with LLMs and AI agents, especially for processing large volumes of data; experience building backend systems for complex data dashboards and visualization products. Benefits include fully remote work and flexible working arrangements.
