Backend Developer position based in St. Louis, Missouri or Washington, DC (on-site) in the United States. This is a permanent, on-site role with relocation assistance available. Qualifications: Required:

Design and develop backend services powering geospatial processing, automation, and user-facing applications
Build RESTful APIs, middleware, proxies, and integration services using Python, Node.js, and Java
Extend and support enterprise geospatial platforms in containerized environments
Develop geoprocessing services, automation workflows, and operational tools
Create data ingestion pipelines and integrations across diverse enterprise systems
Support deployments in cloud-native and on-premises environments
Improve reliability, scalability, performance, and observability
Partner with engineering, DevOps, and GIS teams to deliver production-ready solutions
Participate in the full software development lifecycle from design to deployment
2+ years of professional backend software engineering experience
Hands-on experience with Python, JavaScript/Node.js, and Java
Experience designing REST APIs and service-oriented architectures
Experience integrating with enterprise geospatial platforms or GIS technologies
Familiarity with geoprocessing workflows, automation, middleware services, or large-scale data p
