About the role

Senior Java Backend Developer / Technical Lead – Luxembourg (Hybrid)

We are looking for an experienced Senior Java Backend Developer to act as Technical Lead for a strategic application within a leading EU financial institution. In this role you will combine hands-on development with technical leadership, solution design, and ownership of backend services in a critical financial environment. You will coordinate and mentor the Java team, review implementations, and drive high-quality software delivery while remaining actively involved in day-to-day development.

Responsibilities

Required skills: Nice to have:

Design and implement robust backend solutions using Java and Spring Boot
Lead the technical design of new features and enhancements
Coordinate and mentor other Java developers within the team
Review code to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices
Drive software quality through design reviews, testing, and continuous improvement
Collaborate with Solution Architects, Business Analysts, QA, and DevOps
Translate complex functional and technical requirements into scalable solutions
Ensure maintainability, performance, and security of components
Support CI/CD processes and participate in releases
Provide second-line production support and root-cause analysis
7+ years of backend development experience
Java 17, Spring Framework / Spring Boot
JPA / Hibernate, SQL
Design and implement REST APIs
Experience with messaging (Apache Kafka or similar), Maven, JUnit, CI/CD, Git
Fluent English (mandatory)
Experience in financial servi
