Principal Aerospace Supplier Quality Engineer – On-site in Chantilly, VA.

Overview: The Principal Aerospace Supplier Quality Engineer drives supplier quality programs to ensure that suppliers meet company standards and regulatory requirements. You will work with suppliers and internal engineering and quality teams to establish supplier quality benchmarks, drive continuous improvement, and support new product introduction and development.

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and uphold supplier quality standards aligned with company policies, regulatory mandates, and industry norms.
Conduct supplier audits, initial qualification assessments, and follow-up inspections to evaluate and enhance supplier quality systems.
Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions with suppliers to address quality issues and prevent recurrence.
Collaborate with suppliers to implement quality improvement initiatives and establish compliant processes.
Review and approve supplier-issued Certificates of Conformance to confirm compliance, including for items such as development kits not used in final products.
Lead cross-functional teams to assess supplier risks, monitor quality, and qualify new and existing suppliers.
Provide technical support to suppliers for quality-related challenges to ensure consistent processes and outcomes.
Coordinate with internal teams - engineering, procurement, and QA - to align supplier quality management with company goals.
Establish KPIs and oversee supplier performance, implementing improvement actions as needed.
Travel up to 5-10%
