Ellos Group is undergoing a major data and platform transformation and is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to help transition from an on-premises data warehouse to a modern cloud-based data platform built on Azure and Microsoft Fabric. You will be a key member of the Data & Analytics team within Ellos IT, collaborating with the Senior BI Developer (Product Owner for BI) and other stakeholders to drive the technical direction of the data platform. This is a hands-on role with influence over architecture, technology choices and ways of working. You will operate at the intersection of traditional data warehousing and modern event-driven architectures, bringing together microservices, Kafka and streaming data with established data models and business logic. You will design, build, and optimise data pipelines for real-time and batch processing using sources such as Kafka, internal microservices, Microsoft SQL Server and Google Analytics. You will lead the migration from the established on-premises data warehouse to a cloud-based platform, ensuring that functionality is recreated, improved and future-proofed. You will work closely with BI developers, Data Scientists and Product Owners to ensure high data quality and well-defined data concepts and models that support analytics and business processes. Your day will typically include stand-ups, development work, technical discussions, backlog refinement or workshops, all in an agile and collaborative environment with the option to work from the office or remotely.
