About the role

Overview: The Melrose Georgetown Hotel is seeking a Sales Manager to maximize occupancy and room rates by coordinating with hotel operations to drive profitability through increased sales. This on-site role is based in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities

Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:

Conduct aggressive outside sales calls, appointments, telephone calls, direct mail, and proposals; approximately 80% of time should be spent in active sales solicitation.
Assist the Director of Sales in preparing the annual marketing plan and action plans for assigned market segments.
Send proposals on all leads that fit the property profile and actively follow through to convert from proposal to definite status; proposals and confirmations should be sent immediately upon holding space.
Document client room block requirements, suite requirements, and meeting/banquet space needs to ensure accurate reservations.
Obtain, document, and route all necessary information on definite groups (billing information, credit applications, rooming lists, VIP arrangements); coordinate with catering for menus and audio-visual arrangements.
Maintain a sales quota as assigned by the DOS.
Maintain sensitivity to customer satisfaction and guest needs.
Prepare weekly sales call reports and itineraries of planned sales calls to potential customers.
Work cooperatively with colleagues; promote a culture of guest service.
Perform any reasonable task as assigned by management.
Strong business communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
