UW Credit Union is seeking a Software Engineer I to join our software development team in Madison, Wisconsin. This role develops and maintains high-quality software using a range of technologies in an Agile environment. Key responsibilities include analyzing and designing software solutions; coding, unit and integration testing; documenting changes for peer review with testing instructions; deploying code to development and production environments; designing databases to meet performance and audit requirements; and integrating vendor software systems into our solutions. The position also involves taking ownership of tasks, prioritizing work, improving reliability and maintainability, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable systems. Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field and 2–3 years of software engineering experience. Proficiency in .NET/C#, scripting languages, query languages, and version control, along with strong communication skills and on-call ability, is expected. The work arrangement is hybrid (minimum three days on-site). All applicants must have valid work authorization; UW Credit Union does not sponsor immigration petitions.
