Databricks is seeking a Tech Lead Manager to help build Lakebase from London. This is a hands-on technical leadership role: you will guide a small team of about five engineers, stay deeply involved in coding, architecture, and design, and mentor the team while delivering high-quality software. You will own delivery timelines, set technical standards, and unblock cross-functional dependencies. You will work with partner teams to align on dependencies and help shape the long-term Lakebase roadmap. The team you will lead includes Lakebase Platform Reliability, Lakebase Proxy, and Lakebase Storage. Key responsibilities include hands-on design and coding on the hardest parts of projects; architecture reviews; establishing observability, testing, and SLAs; growing engineers through feedback and career development; and collaborating with engineering and product leadership to shape the roadmap. Requirements: 5+ years of engineering experience, including time as a tech lead or senior engineer; strong hands-on technical depth and the ability to design systems and write code for large-scale distributed services; experience with large-scale distributed systems, testing, monitoring, and SLAs; people management or tech lead experience; ability to align multiple stakeholders; BS or higher in Computer Science or a related field. About Databricks: Databricks is the data and AI company with thousands of customers worldwide and a global presence.
